Inventory Locations
Use Inventory Locations to define warehouses, stores, yards, vehicles, or other places where stock quantities are tracked separately.
Before you begin
- Decide the physical and operational boundaries of each location.
- Choose a short, stable location code.
- Confirm which location should be the company default.
Create a location
- Enter a unique Location Code and clear Location Name.
- Complete the address and contact details used on receiving or delivery documents.
- Save the location.
- Configure users, branches, replenishment, or default-location settings that depend on it.
- Test a stock inquiry or test transaction before live use.
Design guidance
- Create separate locations only when quantities must be controlled separately.
- Do not reuse a location code for a different physical place.
- Restrict access when a user should transact only in selected warehouses.
- Keep transit, quarantine, damaged, or consignment stock separate when your controls require it.
Important: A location with transaction history should normally be made inactive rather than deleted or repurposed.
