Review checklist

  • Total debits equal total credits.
  • Cash, receivables, payables, inventory, tax, payroll, and retained earnings are reasonable.
  • Suspense, clearing, and temporary accounts contain only expected items.
  • Large or unusual movements can be traced to supporting transactions.
  • Subledger totals agree with their control accounts.

Tip: Use General Ledger inquiry to drill into an unexpected account balance, then filter by date, reference, person, or dimension.
